Settling West Blog: my lovely mail surprise

On July 23rd, one of my favorite blogs, Settling West, sponsored a little giveaway with a book she had read and enjoyed. The book is Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail.

Brigette, who runs the blog, wrote the following about the book,
"Wild is a coming of age tale that twists and turns with adventure. Strayed’s time on the Pacific Crest Trail, which she hiked completely alone, is often what one might expect it to be….interrupted by bears, plagued by dangerous weather patterns and thwarted by suspicious strangers. Unexpected plots unfold on the trail as well. I never expected she’d get as far as she did, for instance!
I am not afraid, I am not afraid, I am not afraid. She repeated these words over and over to herself on the trail. It’s a hearty mantra, and one I’ve partially adopted. I feel the need to sit down, and write a good long letter to Strayed….to thank her for sharing the ugliness of her life so honestly and beautifully, for making my everyday struggles seem a little less irritating, and for making me feel less afraid of the world."
This is just the sort of book I love to read! I'm a person who loves to travel, and loves adventure. So, on a whim, I thought I'd enter the giveaway - and I won!! What a delightful treat! (It also came at a really good time for me, because I have just made the decision to shut down my full-time Photography business. It's been a very sad few weeks here.)

This is what came in the mail today:

Along with the book Brigette sent a gorgeous journal, a pen, and some funky cool paper clips. A girl after my own heart - these are all things I enjoy!

So, I'll be doing some reading this weekend (well, to be honest, I read every weekend, but it will be this fun giftie this weekend!)

My thanks to Brigette, and if you haven't already, visit her blog: http://www.settlingwest.com

I adore lovely comments! Thank you for taking time to write to me! You ROCK! I'm sorry for the word verification, but I get way too many spam comments without it!
