The competition was for 2 and 3-dimensional media in the following categories:
- Friendly Faces:
- Figures in any fashion
- Tornado Alley:
- Abstracts and nonrepresentational
- Big Sky:
- Landscapes, florals and still life
- Wild Frontier:
- Architectural and cityscapes, wildlife
- Sculptural entries
If you aren't familiar with ‘juried’ shows, it simply means that the artist must submit slides or photographs which are reviewed by a jury (a knowledgeable committee) to determine which pieces will be accepted into the show based on technical skill, creativity, the medium, and/or other requirements. So, in essence, each piece goes through multiple stages of judging.

The title is "Close to my Heart".
The show location is the IAO Gallery at 706 W. Sheridan, Oklahoma City, OK. The Opening Reception is March 16, 6-9pm, and the show runs from March 16-April 9, 2011. If you are able to attend, a special event will be a Tour with Curator Dr. Mary Ruth Smith on Saturday, March 17, 10am-12noon.
