My Word for the Year

Many Bloggers have been writing about their word of year. As someone who loves both words and typography, the concept is a powerful one to me.

I also believe that words can change your life. What you concentrate on, and what you believe are powerful forces. As a Christian, I am familiar with quite a few verses about this topic. Among them,

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits." - Proverbs 18:21

"Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear." - Ephesians 4:29

"I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for ;every careless word they speak,for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” - Mathew 12: 36 - 37

In thinking about what the Bible said about words, I decided to test drive a few words that were on my possibilities list . . . fearless, boldness . . . but the word that I chose, which embraces both what I want to accomplish in life, and in my walk with God, is Joy!

Joy is both a fruit of the spirit, and an action that is a part of our walk. One of my favorite verses is 1 Peter 1:8-9.

"Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls."

That is what I want in my life, and something that has been missing for several years, since I left a bad relationship. I have allowed so many aspects of life steal my joy, and I'm ready to bring it back into full bloom!
